Product packaging
Print runs are committed early. The code on the box can move from a launch page to setup instructions or a spare-parts page without a new print.
Editable QR codes
Need a QR code for packaging, menus, signs, or other printed material that may stay in use for a while? Create it as Dynamic and you can update its destination later from SweQR, without replacing the printed code.
Editable refers to the destination behind the QR code — not the printed artwork. Choose Dynamic before printing, because a Static QR code cannot be made editable afterward.
An “editable QR code” generally means a Dynamic QR code. Instead of holding your final web address, the artwork encodes a short link issued and managed through SweQR. That short link resolves to a destination you keep in your account — and a setting is something you can edit.
A Static QR code stores its destination directly in the artwork. Whatever address you typed when the image was made is the address every scan of that image opens. That is why a printed Static QR code cannot be turned into an editable one later.
So “editable” is decided before you print, not after. If the destination may change while the printed piece is still in circulation, create the code as Dynamic first.
The destination is the part that matters. Editing it changes where future scans resolve — it does not reach back into paper that has already been printed.
The destination behind the code
This is the point of an editable QR code. Update the saved address in SweQR and future scans of the same issued code resolve to it.
The internal name and folder
The code's internal name and the folder it sits in are yours to change in the dashboard, so a growing set of codes stays navigable.
New artwork you download from now on
You can restyle a code in the Design Studio and download fresh artwork for future print runs. That never changes the issued address.
Artwork that is already printed
Editing changes where future scans resolve. It does not physically alter artwork that is already printed: the printed pattern stays the same pattern it always was.
The issued identity of the code
Activation fixes the code's managed short link, including the hostname chosen at issuance. It stays tied to that QR when the destination changes.
A Static QR code, after the fact
A printed Static QR code cannot be converted into an editable Dynamic QR code afterward, because its address sits inside the artwork itself.
The logic is the same every time: the physical material stays in circulation while the destination may change.
Print runs are committed early. The code on the box can move from a launch page to setup instructions or a spare-parts page without a new print.
Dishes, prices and seasonal menus change more often than the laminated card on the table.
Material stays up after a campaign ends. Editing the destination beats leaving a dead link in public.
Roles, booking links and contact pages change. The card in someone's wallet does not.
One printed code can lead to registration before the event, the schedule during it and follow-up material afterward.
Documentation gets revised. The code printed on the product can follow the current revision.
Run the same printed asset across phases and send scans to whichever page is current.
Signs stay mounted for a long time while the page behind them is replaced.
Step by step
Step 1
Editable destinations belong to managed Dynamic QR codes, so they live in a SweQR account on a plan that includes dynamic codes. In the dashboard, choose “Create dynamic QR code”.
Step 2
Answer “Where should this code go?” with the https:// address the code should open first. The code is saved as a draft you can still change.
Step 3
Activate the code so it receives its fixed managed short link. Depending on the plan and issuance choice, that link can use a SweQR-hosted hostname or a verified custom hostname. Then open the Design Studio to style it and download PNG or SVG for print. Activate and design before the artwork goes to print.
Step 4
Open the code and use “Change destination”. The new address is checked before the change goes live, and the printed artwork and issued short link stay exactly as they are.
Step 5
Later scans of the same printed code resolve through its fixed issued identity to the destination saved at that moment, after normal propagation.
Both are real, scannable QR codes. The difference is where the destination lives.
Free static artwork is created and exported in your browser at the QR Design Studio, and adding a logo to a QR code covers the design controls in detail.
Only if it was created as Dynamic before printing can its destination be updated later. A printed Static QR code cannot be converted into an editable Dynamic QR code afterward.
If you are already holding printed material and need the link moved, start with changing a QR code destination after printing.
What you get is a code whose destination you control and whose printed identity does not move. Capacity, analytics depth, team access and custom domains follow the plan — not every plan includes every feature.
Change where the code leads from the dashboard. The new address is checked before the change goes live.
Activation assigns the code its fixed managed short link. Depending on the plan and selection at issuance, that link can use a SweQR-hosted hostname or a verified custom hostname. The hostname and code identity chosen at issuance stay tied to that issued QR when the destination changes.
Style the code in the Design Studio — patterns, corner frames and centers, colors, caption frames, optional center logo — and download PNG or SVG for print.
Give each code an internal name and group codes into folders, so the list stays manageable as it grows.
Paid dynamic plans count scans and show totals and trends; breakdown depth and history follow the plan. Counts are scans, not people.
Destinations are checked when set and when changed, and an address that fails the safety check can be held instead of going live. This is a screening step, not a guarantee that every unsafe address is detected.
FAQ
If it was created as a Dynamic QR code in SweQR, yes — its destination is a setting you change in the dashboard. A static code has its address inside the artwork, so there is nothing to edit.
You can change the destination of a Dynamic QR code with “Change destination”, while your plan includes destination editing. Future scans then resolve to the new address through the same issued short link.
Only if it was created as Dynamic before printing. Then the destination can be updated and the printed code keeps working. A printed Static QR code cannot be converted into an editable Dynamic QR code afterward.
The managed redirect layer. An editable QR code encodes a short link issued and managed through SweQR rather than your final address, so the address it resolves to can be changed while the printed pattern stays the same.
An editable (Dynamic) QR code encodes a managed SweQR link, appears in your dashboard, can be repointed later and records scans. A static QR code encodes the destination directly, needs no account, and its address is fixed in the artwork.
Yes. Editing the destination later is Dynamic QR functionality, and it has to be chosen before printing. If the destination may change while the printed piece is still in use, create the code as Dynamic first.
Create the code as Dynamic, print it once, and keep the destination under your control in the dashboard.
