Dynamic QR Code Generator: Change the Link After You Print
A dynamic QR code is a QR code whose destination you can edit after it is printed. You print it once, and when the page it should open moves, you change the link in your dashboard instead of reprinting. People also call this an editable QR code, or say they want to change a QR code's destination after printing. All three describe the same thing, and this page covers all of them.

How it works, in one picture
A normal (static) QR code stores your final web address inside the printed pattern. It can never point anywhere else.
A SweQR dynamic QR code stores a managed short link instead, issued when you activate the code. New shared codes use the qrswe.link host. When someone scans:
- The phone opens the short link.
- SweQR looks up the destination currently saved for that code.
- The scan is forwarded to that destination.
The printed pattern and the short link never change. The saved destination is a setting you can edit.

Restyling a code doesn't change its short link. You can refresh the artwork for a new print run and old prints still carry the same short link.
Set up your first dynamic QR code
- Sign in or create an account. Dynamic codes live in a SweQR account. (The free static designer doesn't need one.)
- Choose a plan with dynamic codes. Dynamic QR codes are a paid product. The plan sets how many codes you can hold, how deep analytics go, and whether custom domains are included.
- Create the code. Choose "Create dynamic QR code" and answer "Where should this code go?" with an https:// address. The code is saved as a draft.
- Activate it. Activation issues the permanent short link. That is the moment the code gets the identity your printed pieces will carry.
- Design and download. Style it in the Design Studio. The exact rendered artwork is decode-checked. Download PNG or SVG, then test a print at real size on more than one phone.
- Change the destination when you need to. Open the code and use "Change destination". The new address is checked before it goes live. Later scans follow it after normal propagation.
Already printed? What's possible
- Printed as a SweQR dynamic code: open it and change the destination. Copies already printed follow the new address.
- Printed as a static code (from any generator): the address is inside the pattern. It can't be converted into a dynamic code afterward. The options are keeping the old page working or replacing the printed pieces.
- Not printed yet: create it as dynamic now. The decision has to be made before printing.
Safety checks on every change
People scanning a code can't see where it leads, so SweQR treats destinations as something to verify:
- New destinations are validated when you save them, before they go live.
- A destination that looks unsafe or gets reported can be held instead of passed through.
- Saved destinations are re-checked over time, not trusted once.
Scan analytics
Because scans pass through the managed link, a dynamic code can be counted. Every paid dynamic plan shows scan totals and trends. Higher plans add breakdowns: country and device above the entry level, and browser, operating system and referring host on higher plans. Retention sets how far back you can look.
Analytics are approximate daily aggregates. They count scans, not unique people. How scan data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.
Organize and scale
- Folders: group codes by campaign, location or product line.
- Team seats and roles: on plans with team access, invite colleagues with a role.
- Your own domain: on eligible plans, serve codes from a verified hostname you control (for example qr.example.com) instead of qrswe.link. This needs DNS setup and verification. It gives you a branded hostname, not a guarantee of better SEO or deliverability.
If you cancel or downgrade
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period. Paid features continue until then. Issued codes are never deleted, reassigned or recycled, and their short link stays the same. A SweQR-hosted code may continue to redirect to its last saved destination after paid management ends, subject to the Terms of Use, including safety, lifecycle and enforcement rules. Creating codes, editing destinations and plan-limited analytics stop until you subscribe again. Custom domains follow their own continuity rules (see the Terms).
Where dynamic codes are used
Anywhere the printed piece outlives the page it points to. There are guides for restaurant menus, product packaging, trade show booths, real estate signs and business cards. If you only need a fixed link today, the free QR Design Studio exports static PNG and SVG without an account.
